Sophia Casey, an Executive Life Coach in Washington DC, earns a Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential from the International Coaching Federation.

March 4, 2022 – Washington, DC – Sophia Casey, a thought leader in the coaching industry, has recently earned the prestigious designation of Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). ICF is the leading global organization with more than 50,000 professional, personal, and business coaches. The organization offers the only independent and internationally recognized coach-credentialing program. Earning an MCC credential is evidence of Sophia Casey’s solid commitment to the profession of coaching.

Sophia’s career path covers a number of positions in the Human Resource Management industry. She has led several HR, communications, and training organizations in the federal government, including her tenure as Director of Enterprise-wide Training for more than 10,000 engineers, attorneys, and analysts, and Director of First Impressions for a task force for the former Vice President of the United States.

Eventually, armed with immense knowledge, vast experiences, and a passion for coach training and leadership development, Sophia co-founded a global Bermuda-headquartered training and leadership development school, the International Coaching & Leadership Institute (ICLI). ICLI, where Sophia serves as the Chief Learning Officer alongside credentialed executive coaches, trainers, and co-founders Jessica Lightbourne and Lorene Phillips, is strongly dedicated to providing coaching for everyone, everywhere. The school’s Coach Immersion Programs focus on a multitude of areas, including ontological coaching, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), leadership consulting, wellness, and business development.

Being committed to strengthening the coaching industry, Sophia is an ardent advocate for coach credentialing, as coaching credentials offered by ICF benefit both coaches and consumers. By acquiring an ICF credential, consumers know that a coach is creditable and has proper coaching experience. ICF-credentialed coaches meet the highest professional standards and adhere to a strong code of ethics. They must meet several requirements, including obtaining a minimum number of coaching experience and coach-specific training hours. In addition, experienced, independent assessors under strict examination conditions assess coaches who apply for a credential in their coaching standards and competence both orally and in writing.

ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaching is a distinct service and differs greatly from therapy, consulting, mentoring, or training. Coaches work with clients in many areas, including business, career, finance, health, and relationships. Individuals who engage in a coaching relationship can expect to experience fresh perspectives on personal challenges and opportunities, enhanced thinking and decision-making skills, enhanced interpersonal skills, enhanced international effectiveness, and increased confidence in carrying out their chosen work and life roles.

Sophia works with both individual and corporate clients and specializes in coaching C-suite executives and aspiring leaders, professional development training, and mentor coaching. Her online school provides over 100 professional development courses in a variety of areas, including team effectiveness, emotional intelligence, cultural competency, executive presence, and leadership development. She has supported hundreds of executive-level leaders with getting transformative results and mentored more than 600 coaches on coaching core competencies needed to apply for coaching credentials. She is most passionate about her work as an advocate for creating opportunities for people who are hard of hearing or deaf, leading initiatives to spread awareness around the impact of mental health on the Black community and to increase the number of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) credentialed coaches around the world.

As an award-winning speaker, Sophia inspires women to lead with fierce vulnerability with her signature topics on self-confidence, resiliency and bounce-back ability, personal transformation, and world-class customer service. Besides her designation as a Master Certified Coach, far exceeding the ICF requirements of 2,500 coaching hours and 200 training hours, Sophia is a John Maxwell certified coach, trained assessor, and mentor coach supporting coaches towards the attainment of their ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC) and Master Certified Coach (MCC) credentials. She boasts that 100% of the coaches she has mentored who pursued their ICF credentials received them.

The evidence for Sophia’s passion for coaching is present in every aspect of her work and is recognized by her clients, mentees, former coach training students, and colleagues. Jeffrey Pollack, an ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and facilitator, described his experience of Sophia’s training and mentor coaching: “Having been to Gestalt workshops, as well as ICF Global conferences, I’ve witnessed some powerful coaching moments, the kind I aspire to deliver myself. Please know I witnessed two such exceptional coaching moments from you on Sunday. They were the kind of coaching reflection that only comes from an MCC coach. I am certain you remember the one because I looked across the room and made eye contact with you in that moment. I knew that was coaching greatness. The other came near the end. Those set a superb example for me, from which I will remember going forward. ‘Lean back’ and don’t work the situation. The powerful question that needs to be asked will come to the surface. Those two moments were worth the price of admission. Great Job! A+++.”

Sophia received her education in sociology, social psychology, and mild and moderate disabilities at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Johns Hopkins University, and California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and used all her training and expertise to propel herself towards excellence in coaching that she believes is a part of her life’s purpose. In addition, because of Sophia’s unyielding commitment to supporting organizations with strategies to provide world-class customer service, she was appointed as an Adjunct Professor and Advisory Board Member at George Washington University where she provides customer experience training and mentorship to aspiring executives and entrepreneurs.

As an ICF credentialed coach and a member of the ICF DC Metro and ICF Caribbean chapters, Sophia firmly upholds the ICF’s commitment to the global advancement of the coaching profession and to fostering the role of coaching as an integral part of a thriving society.
