Tom Brady gave Malcolm Butler the truck he won for being Super Bowl MVP

Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler is getting his truck. New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Tuesday is handing over the keys to the red 2015 Chevy Colorado he was awarded for being named Super Bowl MVP to Butler, the undrafted rookie cornerback who made the game-clinching interception in the Patriots’ win against the Seattle Seahawks.

Brady had said on his Boston radio show last week that he wanted Butler to get the vehicle, they just had some logistics to work through. Butler’s agent, Derek Simpson, said on Tuesday that those details had been worked out, and Butler will be the one paying taxes on the truck. “Tom Brady was so gracious with the whole thing,” Simpson said.

The Chevy Colorado replaces an older model Chevy SUV – either a Tahoe or Yukon, Simpson couldn’t remember – that Butler purchased for less than $8,000 late last summer after making the Patriots’ 53-man roster. Butler previously didn’t own a car, Simpson said.

Receiving the truck is just another big moment in what has been a whirlwind week for Butler. He and Patriots receiver Julian Edelman appeared together at last week Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif. and at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles.
