Isabelle Jackson Elementary School was built in remembrance of its namesake, to honor the longtime career of Isabelle Jackson in the Florin region. Earning money for her district, supporting and creating many clubs for students, making advances in education and programs for students and rising to the title of superintendent are just some of her accomplishments. Her spirit lives on at the beautiful campus of Isabelle Jackson Elementary School, where changes are tackled head on and new approaches are embraced.

The mission at Isabelle Jackson Elementary is to provide all students with a safe, effective and supportive environment where they will learn essential academic and social skills in order to achieve in school and succeed in life. Principal Martin Fine firmly believes that “all students can learn and it is our responsibility to ensure this happens.” With so many huge changes happening at Jackson Elementary in the past 30 years, the school has adjusted instructional leadership to meet the needs of its community of learners.

To meet the evolving needs of students, leadership at Jackson has added many new initiatives over the years, supporting student culture, behavior and learning needs. Teachers and administration at Jackson have embraced such strategies as Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), and have enhanced learning through technology. Teachers have been putting in extra hours and effort to really understand the Common Core State Standards and to find new, innovative ways to help students learn and embrace these standards. Taking these approaches has enabled Jackson to better meet the needs of its richly diverse and changing population of learners and their families.
